HTV Winter League

Concept

The Winter League Hessen, organized by Turnier Fuxx, is the modern and centrally managed indoor team competition of the HTV. From October to April, matches are played in 2-player teams (two singles + one doubles) on fixed indoor courts – with clear procedures, digital result reporting, and minimal administrative effort for the clubs. The 30/50 km rule ensures fair travel distances and optimal use of hall capacity. More than 1,000 teams participate each year – from juniors to seniors, from beginners to regional league players. The Winter League stands for fairness, planning reliability, and true team spirit – even during the cold season.

Idea, Structure & Match Format

The Winter League combines traditional team tennis with a modern, efficient indoor concept. Matches are played in 2-player teams with two singles and one doubles, ensuring a compact and predictable schedule. Centralized hall coordination guarantees fair conditions, fixed match times, and minimal travel for all teams. The foundation is the HTV’s official regulations, enhanced by practical rules and digital processes that simplify organization and result reporting. The goal is a unified, reliable, and athletically attractive competition format that brings clubs and players together throughout the winter season.

Regulations

The Winter League regulations govern the entire structure of the indoor team competition under the umbrella of the HTV. They define registration deadlines, match formats, player additions, scoring procedures, and the financial framework — including clear rules for rescheduling, withdrawals, and no-shows. Matches are played in 2-player teams (two singles + one doubles) in accordance with the HTV competition rules, supplemented by Winter League–specific provisions to streamline hall coordination and reduce administrative effort for clubs. The goal is a transparent, fair, and well-structured competition that runs smoothly throughout the winter season.

Competition Rules

The HTV Competition Rules (WO) form the legal and sporting foundation for all team and tournament competitions in Hessen. They define binding regulations for registrations, player eligibility, line-ups, scoring, disciplinary measures, and player deployment. Key sections include the rules on player eligibility (§§ 37–41), match scoring (§§ 44–48), and procedures for withdrawals, protests, and disciplinary matters. Within the Winter League, the WO serves as the mandatory rulebook, supplemented by the specific Winter League regulations and adapted to the operational requirements of indoor competition.

Our Motivation

The Winter League was created to keep tennis alive during the cold season and to actively counter the ongoing decline of indoor tennis facilities in Hessen. Many clubs no longer have their own halls, resulting in member losses and significant organizational challenges. With centralized coordination by Turnier Fuxx, we provide a platform that enables all clubs – even those without their own hall – to participate fairly in winter competition. By assigning optimally reachable halls based on the 30/50 km rule, we especially support rural clubs, reduce logistical burdens, and maintain sporting integration. Our goal is to give players a real opportunity to “overwinter,” strengthen community and club life during winter, and use existing hall capacity efficiently. The result is a sustainable, supportive, and future-oriented competition that strengthens tennis across Hessen.
